Diverse activities connected by beech forests,
the wooded Tadami River, and satoyama landscapes

– Encounter scenery that weaves together the nature and lifestyles of Okuaizu –

Located in the western part of the Aizu region, Echigo Sanzan Tadami Quasi-National Park (in an area of Fukushima Prefecture) consists of part of the Echigo Mountain Range and the area around the Tadami River flowing from Lake Ozenuma. In October 2021, the area of Tadami Yanaizu Prefectural Natural Park and its surrounding areas were added to the quasi-national park, forming the current park area.

This quasi-national park harbours an exceptional natural ecosystem, where rare species inhabit extensive native forests, including beech trees. It also boasts a diverse array of landscapes, ranging from unique natural vistas sculpted by some of Japan’s heaviest snowfall and rugged mountains, to satoyama landscapes characterised by the harmonious interplay between clear streams, such as the Tadami River and local livelihoods.
